At EMLV, academic teaching goes hand in hand with research activities tailored to addressing the latest advances in business and finance. But a successful career can not come without intellectual curiosity and international awareness, which form the foundation of an informed and responsable study abroad community.
Yang Ding is a professor of finance at EMLV Business School, Devinci Higher Education. Professor Ding specializes in accounting and management control, but she is also an inspiration in the career choice of students.
She shares her story in “Meet Our Faculty”, a video series produced by EMLV to empower academic community around the world with passion and purpose.
Meet Yang, Professor of the EMLV Master’s in Management
My first advice is be grateful for what you have. I think it gives you the motivation also that inner peace to enjoy what you have and also help you to achieve better and further objectives.
I’m Chinese, so I’m the professor of finance. I will teach the courses of corporate finance, international accounting and quantitative data analysis.
So before joining EMLV, I was studying a PHD in financial accounting at HEC Paris, and before that, I also studied in Hong Kong and Canada.
Teaching International Finance and Corporate Management in Paris
I like to pass knowledge to students also to help them find what they are interested in.
So my teaching interest mainly concentrates on international financial accounting and corporate finance. So this year I will teach financial strategies, also international financial accounting, quantitative data analysis, and also Thesis Bootcamp.
Well, personally, I’m a big fan of cultural activities, so when I have some free time I like going to the cinema. I’m a big fan of music. When I have time, I’ll go to a jazz club or concerts if I can.
Work for what you have a passion for and try your best to enjoy it. I know it’s not an easy process when you study abroad, but try to enjoy it because when you look back, you will think “Wow, I achieved so much”, and is was totally worth it.
