Taught entirely in English, the International Business specialisation within EMLV’s Master in Management – Grande École Programme prepares students for roles in management, business development and project management at an international level. The programme combines industry expertise, an understanding of global markets and professional experience to meet the needs of companies committed to their international expansion.
The globalisation of trade, geopolitical shifts and technological transformations are changing business practices. Against this backdrop, organisations are seeking candidates capable of understanding complex environments, working with multicultural teams and developing business across multiple markets.
The International Business specialisation is offered as part of the Master in Management within EMLV’s Grande École Programme. It is aimed at students who wish to pursue a career in an international context and draws on the experience gained throughout the course, notably featuring a year of academic and professional mobility abroad.
A programme structured around three complementary dimensions
According to Muhammad Atif, the programme coordinator, the course is structured around three main areas.
- The first concerns personal and interpersonal development. The modules help to strengthen communication skills, the ability to interact with a variety of people, and an understanding of human dynamics in an international professional context.
- The second area focuses on managerial skills. Students explore the fundamentals of management, marketing, finance and supply chain management in depth, in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of how organisations operate.
- Finally, the third dimension is professional development. Work placements, assignments, projects and practical work enable students to gain hands-on experience of business practices before entering the job market.
“We aim to bring students and businesses closer together so that future graduates gain a practical understanding of how the professional world works and what international organisations expect,” explains Muhammad Atif.
A holistic approach to international business
The specialisation covers the entire corporate value chain.
The modules address issues relating to purchasing, procurement, logistics and operations management. They also cover business development, strategic management, international marketing, communication and distribution network management.
This cross-functional perspective is a central feature of the programme. It enables students to understand the interactions between the various business functions and to develop analytical skills suited to international markets.
The programme includes modules on international strategy, business development, international negotiation, innovation, digital marketing, international finance, global supply chain management and entrepreneurship.
A multicultural, English-speaking environment
The entire specialisation is taught in English. Students study in a multicultural environment alongside students on the MSc in International Business at EMLV.
This linguistic immersion is underpinned by the Grande École Programme’s international focus. With over 150 partner universities worldwide and a third year entirely devoted to an international academic and professional experience, students develop a practical understanding of intercultural issues.
The ability to communicate, build a professional network and collaborate with people from different cultures is, in fact, one of the qualities particularly sought after in this specialisation.
Career opportunities across a wide range of sectors
The diversity of the programme opens the door to a variety of roles within international companies, consultancy firms or organisations expanding overseas.
Graduates may, in particular, progress to roles such as:
- Export-import manager
- Business development officer
- International project manager
- Country sales manager
- Procurement manager
- International management consultant
- Manager of an international subsidiary
These roles require skills in coordination, negotiation, strategic analysis and intercultural management, which are particularly sought after in a globalised economic context.
Training managers capable of supporting international transitions
The International Business specialisation prepares students for careers in companies expanding their operations internationally.
Students learn to analyse new markets, manage projects involving several countries, and collaborate with teams, clients or partners from different cultures.
Through lectures, work placements and business projects, students gain practical insight into the organisation’s key functions — management, marketing, business development, finance and supply chain — whilst developing an understanding of the economic and intercultural challenges associated with international business.
