Originally from India, Shubham Singh, an MBA Digital Strategic Marketing student in the class of 2025, shares his journey at EMLV—from professional experience in operations to a new perspective on international business, leadership, and technology-driven management.
His story reflects how the EMLV MBA sharpens managerial and digital skills in a multicultural setting.
A Career Shift Towards Leadership
After several years working in fraud operations and customer service with multinational companies in India, Shubham decided to take a decisive turn in his career.
“I wanted to move into leadership roles, especially project management,” he explains. The EMLV MBA offered him a way to strengthen his expertise while discovering how marketing and technology shape business strategies worldwide.
Receiving the Dean’s Scholarship was key to making his dream possible. “I had initially planned to pursue an MBA in India,” he says. “But after comparing tuition and scholarship opportunities, EMLV stood out—both for its academic reputation and its location in La Défense, one of Europe’s largest business hubs.”
Choosing France and EMLV for International Exposure
For Shubham, studying abroad was also a way to gain exposure to different markets and perspectives.
“France is home to some of the world’s top business schools. Doing my MBA here allowed me to learn from a diverse cohort,” he recalls.
His class brought together students from the United States, China, and several European and African countries — an environment that enriched his understanding of business dynamics.
“Each assignment group was multicultural by design. It taught me how different cultural backgrounds influence how people think, work, and lead,” he says.
The Intercultural Management module, taught by Professor Fawaz, was a turning point. “Those lessons are helping me today in my internship, where I collaborate daily with colleagues from across Europe,” Shubham adds.
Strengthening Skills Through an Interdisciplinary MBA
The EMLV MBA in Digital Strategic Marketing integrates a broad spectrum of business disciplines, combining marketing, operations, HR, and digital strategy. This multidisciplinary structure is one of the program’s strengths.
“Before joining EMLV, my experience was limited to one area of operations,” Shubham explains. “Here, I learned about business strategy, HR processes, digital supply chain, and especially artificial intelligence. Three of our courses were dedicated to AI and its applications in marketing and management. That knowledge now helps me in my current projects.”
This academic foundation aligns with the school’s positioning as outlined in its Programme Grande École and MBA offerings: forming hybrid managers capable of navigating technological transitions and leading responsibly across sectors.
From Classroom to Career: An Internship in Luxembourg
Today, Shubham is completing his internship as a Service Delivery Coordinator in the IT security team at Deutsche Börse Group in Luxembourg. His current role combines coordination, project follow-up, and cross-functional collaboration — a direct application of the methodologies covered in his MBA.
“The project management assignments I worked on at EMLV helped me secure this internship,” he explains.
While his long-term goal remains marketing, he recognises that mastering project delivery is an essential step toward leadership in a tech-driven environment.
He also points out that learning French is crucial for international students seeking roles in France. “The MBA opens doors, but language skills make a difference when it comes to career opportunities,” he notes.
A Supportive Academic Environment
Returning to academia after several years in the corporate world was not easy, but Shubham emphasises the support he received from professors and peers.
“The professors are professionals who bring real-world perspectives. They go beyond theory, sharing their experiences from the corporate sector,” he says.
Career events organised by EMLV also gave him opportunities to expand his network. “During the career fairs, I met alumni and professionals from other programs. It helped me understand the French market and build useful connections.”
Looking Ahead: Ambitions and Advice for Future Students
Shubham plans to continue developing his expertise in project management while keeping an eye on future opportunities in marketing and digital strategy. His goal is to lead projects that combine technology and innovation.
For those considering following his path, his advice is to stay open-minded, learn French, and don’t rely solely on the school for your professional journey.
According to him, EMLV provides excellent tools and guidance, but finding the right opportunity requires initiative. He also advises always networking, applying selectively, and focusing on roles that match your skills.
His final words capture the spirit of the EMLV experience: “If you’re looking for practical knowledge, strong international exposure, and professors who connect business theory with real-world impact, EMLV is a great place to build your career.”
