The quest for scientific excellence in today’s management schools is intrinsically linked to the significant increase in the number of academic publications in renowned international journals.
This quest is characterised not only by the quantity but also by the quality of research output, which in turn is assessed by various accreditation and labelling bodies such as the AACSB, EFMD Global, and Label DD&RS, which take into account the responsible nature of research and its impact beyond the academic world.
Responsible research has two main components. Firstly, it must be helpful and accessible to the various stakeholders of the business school, including the academic community, students, the business world (made up of executives, managers, entrepreneurs, public decision-makers, etc.), the local community and society as a whole.
Furthermore, responsible research is based on interdisciplinary knowledge and dialogue between disciplines, which is crucial for tackling complex research issues linked to the environmental and societal transition.
These issues are characterised by the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations in 2015.
Interdisciplinarity and accountable research are intrinsically linked; this is where EMLV stands out.
L’école contribue de manière significative à cette combinaison fructueuse grâce à ses travaux de recherche menés au sein du De Vinci Research Center (DVRC).
The school significantly contributes to this fruitful combination through its research work at the De Vinci Research Center (DVRC).
The DVRC is renowned for encouraging collaboration between researchers in management and engineering. This cross-disciplinary approach to knowledge offers new perspectives for solving complex problems linked to sustainability.
The work carried out within the laboratory demonstrates the effectiveness of this interdisciplinarity in responsible research, making it possible to better respond to stakeholders’ needs and make a significant contribution to society and the environment.
Finally, this focus on responsible, interdisciplinary research has repercussions for the training of EMLV students.
They benefit from the expertise of DVRC researchers, which prepares them to understand and approach contemporary issues more holistically.
This research and training model is an essential approach for EMLV, enabling it to play a significant role in responsible research and interdisciplinarity within the academic world.
