Studying International Business in a French Tech Environment

What better place than Paris, third most significant European tech hub, to master international business tools and techniques? The MSc International Business prepares students to become managers in a digitalised world.

Designed to provide students with the know-how to compete in the global business market, the MSc International Business trains students for career opportunities worldwide in digital marketing, management, corporate finance and trade.

Objective: Becoming a Competitive Player in an International Business Environment

The MSc International Business is a combination of academic and practical knowledge. Course structure includes Global Strategy, International Trade, International Digital Marketing and International Finance for Business Development. Classes are taught from October to March, period after which students can either write a dissertation or do an internship to put the acquired skills into practice. EMLV is known for its high insertion rate for young graduates. MSc IB students will be fully trained for international positions such as International Business Consultant, Export Import Manager, Manager of International Subsidiaries, Business Development Officer to name but a few.

Located in La Défense, Paris’ Business District, business school EMLV is close to the major companies shaping the economy, in France and internationally. MSc IB students will be right where the action is. Local start-ups also are at the heart of the programme, for French Tech has made a name for itself.

Paris, the new place to be for start-ups

The MSc International Business programme includes visits to French Tech organisations and events. What exactly is French Tech?

“French Tech refers to all individuals working in or for French start-ups, locally or abroad. Entrepreneurs of course, but also investors, engineers, designers, developers, major companies, associations, media, administrations, research institutes… all organisations committed to start-up growth and influence”.

France and especially Paris have turned into an unavoidable tech hub after investment and support from the French government. Also, funds are not only small and local anymore, as overseas investments are gradually flowing in. Private initiatives are also flourishing, among which Station F, “world’s biggest start-up campus”, founded by Xavier Niel, a successful French telecom businessman. This superhub is all at the same time a meeting place for French and international start-ups, a centralized location for public services aimed at start-ups, an interface between start-ups and scientific research.

Station F and other initiatives in favor of entrepreneurship are an encouragement for a whole new generation of entrepreneurs, all of them working towards a same goal for their start-up, becoming a unicorn. Few French start-ups have made it so far; Vente Privée, Criteo and BlaBlaCar, however the French tech start-up ecosystem may soon provide new success stories of start-ups crossing the one million Dollar value.

MSc International Business students will benefit from this inspiring start-up atmosphere, a one-of-a-kind addition to the curriculum.
