Back to school 2020 at EMLV Business School: hybrid formula and compliance with health policies

In this back-to-school season 2020, pedagogical innovation and compliance with Covid-19 safety protocols are on schedule, at the Pole Leonard de Vinci. The three schools within the Group, EMLV, ESILV and IIM have welcomed back 7 500 students with an expanded mix of on-campus and hybrid instruction.

To cope with the pedagogical and organisational challenge of the Covid-19 crisis, EMLV Business School managed to adapt its methods and tools to the new context. In this new academic year, the faculty members and staff have the double objective to provide all the various programs that EMLV offers and to ensure that the students follow the social distancing measures.

“The Pole Leonard de Vinci and its three schools have made a healthy choice to implement a hybrid pedagogy from the start of the academic year, to conciliate various and additional modes of learning, such as on-campus and remote instruction. After several months without in-classroom instruction, this training system feels the most appropriate to us, to ensure the health guidelines are respected while maintaining a normal campus life as much as possible.” (Sebastien Tran, Deputy Managing Director at the Pole Leonard de Vinci and Dean of EMLV)

Hybrid pedagogy, collaborative learning, innovative technical solutions

The Pole Leonard de Vinci has equipped all its classrooms with innovative technical solutions which allow both in-person and online teaching, which offer class captures, where the students watch the classes at a later date.

The nationwide public transport strike, then the Covid-19 crisis and the lockdown period have posed the necessity of evolution to a multimodal pedagogy, which questions the virtual and physical learning spaces and the teaching methods.

“The objective is to allow easy access to training, which is appropriate for both students and teachers needs. To achieve this, it’s essential to create individualised learning, relevance and engagement for the students”. (Cora Beck, director of Digital Learning Strategy & Innovation)
