The job interview is the last crucial part of the recruiting process, and demonstrating a professional behaviour is sometimes not enough: for any application in a management position, it is especially important to appear as a confident person.

Dress Like a Boss For Your Job Interview

Many studies have shown that the clothes you wear are linked to your confidence. Aside from showing your professional side to the recruiters, dressing as if you already got the position can increase your confidence and help you appear more in charge of the situation.

No matter how awesome they are, suits are not always a must in today’s working ecosystem. The only thing to keep in mind while dressing for a job interview is to look polished and professional, and to dress accordingly to the position and the company you chose.

For the shoes, it is advised to avoid high heels to have a better balance while pitching. Body language is, indeed, extremely important, and you will appear more confident if you are well rooted in the ground.

Do Not Be Afraid To Shine

For some people, anxiety and self-hatred can be overwhelming. In order to keep your inner saboteur from taking control of your fate, it is important to picture yourself succeeding before going to the job interview. Tell yourself that recruiters probably had a hundred candidates for the job and that there is a reason if they chose you for the interview. You are qualified for the job, therefore, there is no reason to fail.

During the interview, be aware of your strength. Do not minimise your skills or your experiences, and do not talk about your flaws unless the interviewer asks about it. It’s not bragging, it’s called being able to sell yourself, a very important skill especially while applying for a management position.

Being 100% prepared for your job interview is one of the best ways to feel confident. Before your interview, make researches about the company you are applying to. Not only will it allow you to answer the interviewer’s questions with more ease, but doing so, you will be able to think about what your skills can bring to the company and why you are the best person for the job.

Do not forget to also search for other companies in the same market. Knowing the methods used by rival companies is a great way to understand how the field works.The more you know, the more confident you will be.

For people who are not comfortable with speaking, it can also be helpful to rehearse the interview out loud at home: speak about your skills, your experience, your studies, and try to anticipate the kind of questions the recruiter will ask. Don’t see the person in charge of your job interview as an enemy or an authority figure, but as someone who wants to know more about your professional experience to see if you are fitted for the position. Your goal is to connect with the interviewer.
